Sammy Hagar Never Disappoints His Crowd!

A Review by Toni Linde
Guest Reviewer

The Ironstone Winery’s Amphitheater was packed and buzzing with excitement before the concert even started last Friday night. My friend and I had great seats that were close to the stage, and I don’t think they could have even put anymore people on the grass by the time the concert got going. Joe Satriani did his job well, getting the crowd pumped up with his amazing guitar playing. His fingers move faster than you can comprehend, even when you see them up-close on the big screens hanging on either side of the stage. Courtesy Photo to the Gold Country Times

Just before Sammy came on, they added about 30 people from the audience up on the stage, standing on risers behind the band to watch the concert from the band’s view. And, of course, Sammy sang to them throughout the concert and even stood in the middle of them a few times to sing. Sammy’s Cabo Wabo girls brought him his drinks throughout his time on the stage. He said that he was starting to feel pretty good, and he was having a great time himself! His girls even passed out shots to the people standing in the front row, using his famous paddles that hold several shot glasses at a time. He does like to please his crowd! His songs were well recognized by the crowd and most of the time, they were singing right along with him. But he did sing a few of his older songs that people haven’t heard from him for awhile which were fun to hear too. He loved teasing about the name of the town and thought that

Murphys sounded like a bar, so he kept calling the town "Murphyville" or "Murphy-town". This was his first time at Ironstone and he was very impressed with the venue and the crowd. Sounds like he will want to come back again sometime! Near the end of the concert, Sammy shot long strands of confetti out into the audience with a "potato" cannon, and then did it again and again until the entire middle section was covered with red and white strings of confetti!

It was a great night, and the weather turned out to be perfect for an outdoor concert, with the full moon just peeking through whispers of clouds. If you’ve never been to the Ironstone Winery’s Amphitheater, that venue is amazing in itself! Ironstone Vineyards is located in Murphys, CA.
