Karolina Blanch (Kara), is a resident of Mountain Ranch and received her culinary training at California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, CA. Ms. Blanch’s experience was received in a myriad of food positions, from Sunterra Resorts in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands to her most recent experience at Ironstone Vineyards as a chef. As chef at Ironstone, she was key in their banquet program that at times sees hundreds of people at a given meal.
Amanda Dixon, of Turlock, is a pastry chef and also gained her culinary training at California Culinary Academy, in San Francisco. She began her professional career as the dessert, salad and cold appetizer chef at Celebrations, one of the finest restaurants in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Amanda’s most recent employment was also at Ironstone Vineyards where she met Ms. Blanch. Amanda at Ironstone was responsible for the entire pastry and dessert program at Iron-stone, making homemade breads, pastries and desserts. Kara and Amanda each began dreaming of owning their own restaurant early on in their careers. When the two of them met while working at Ironstone, they found a partnership where they realized they could make their dream into a reality.
At Bistro 49, Kara Blanch heads up the daily menu. From breakfast to dinner, Ms. Blanch characterizes her culinary style as "a casual take on fine dining." She states, "I like cooking food that people may otherwise think is unaffordable and bringing it to a more casual level, a sophisticated casual." Amanda Dixon adds her sweet touch to the menu at Bistro 49. She likes to emphasize that her breads, pastries and desserts are all made from scratch.
Ms. Dixon says that her vision for Bistro 49 is for it to be "a place where everyone feels welcome to come and eat great food." Amanda also offers her baking expertise to go, and will take custom baking orders for breads, desserts or more. For more information on their menus and events, please call Bistro 49 at 209-754-9559.
