El Dorado Musical Theatre presents “Willy Wonka Jr.”

Ronald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory,” which features the songs from the classic family film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. Willy Wonka, (Andrew Wilson) owner of a magical and mysterious chocolate factory, invites the audience to join him in his world of imagination. Although Wonka excels at making candy, he is ready to retire and find some "bright spark" to continue his candy confectioning.
Willy Wonka holds a contest! The five lucky people who find Golden Tickets inside Wonka Bars win a tour of the chocolate factory and a lifetime supply of chocolate. The winners are Augustus Gloop (Nicholous Mirgoli), Veruca Salt ( Jillian Curry), Violet Beauregarde (Jenna Sharp), Mike Teavee (Zachary Norris), and last but not least, is the poor boy Charlie Bucket (Eric Hurst) who receives the fifth and final ticket. Wonka takes the five winners and their parents on a tour of his magical factory that is full of wonder and scrumdilicious excitement. The factory is full of oompa loompas, squirrels, and candy kids, along with many visual effects. At the conclusion of the tour, Charlie along with Grandpa Joe (Ryan Larroca) do something remarkable: they thank Wonka for the tour and admit to breaking the rules. Wonka reveals the tour was a test of character and only Charlie has succeeded. Wonka proclaims Charlie as his successor and Charlie's family joins them at Wonka's factory. This show overflows with music, comedy, and heart. Join EDMT this summer and let Willy Wonka take you on a fantasy ride into the land of pure imagination.

Willy Wonka, Jr. is directed by Barb Galiotto who returns to EDMT after directing Guys and Dolls in 2002.
